Don't ignore your companions in Emberfall Oaths

It's tempting to treat RPG companions as stat sticks, but Emberfall Oaths punishes that quietly. Neglect a companion's personal storyline and they'll grow distant, occasionally refuse orders, and in one case we saw, leave the party entirely at a crucial moment.

We recommend spending time in camp between missions. The optional conversations aren't just flavor — they unlock class perks and sometimes reveal shortcuts for later quests. We skipped a lot of them on our first save and clearly missed out.

Combat-wise, build your party around the stagger system rather than raw damage. A companion who can reliably keep enemies staggered is worth more than a glass-cannon striker. Pair a stagger specialist with a heavy hitter and most fights fall apart in your favor.

This is a game that rewards attention. Play it like it's telling you a story, because it is.
